Weekend in Biella, looking for your own origin

A weekend entirely dedicated to the city of Biella, to discover the historic center, through museums, monuments and industrial archaeology. UNESCO Creative City since 2019, Biella preserves its centuries-old textile tradition and, at the same time, presents its historic buildings and industrial archeologies in an innovative guise. The itinerary will begin by exploring the history of the city, first with a visit to the Territory Museum; subsequently, the visit will continue to discover the historic centre, from the Biella Piano district to that of Biella Piazzo, the medieval heart of the city, with its characteristic cobbled streets, porticoes and historic buildings. The following day we will go to discover Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto, a characteristic example of industrial archeology which, at the same time, constitutes a laboratory dedicated to innovation and contemporaneity, which also houses the collection of the most important works by Michelangelo Pistoletto, artist of world famous. The itinerary will continue with a visit to the MeBo Museum, the business museum of Menabrea and Botalla Formaggi, two famous excellences of local brewery and gastronomic production.

The day will end with a consultation of the photographic archives at the Cultural Space of the CRB Foundation in Biella, in search of its origins.

PROGRAMME
2 days / 1 night

DAY 1 - BIELLA, THE CITY CENTER AND THE HISTORIC BUILDINGS

The experience will start from Biella, the historic textile district of Piedmont, which has become a UNESCO Creative City since 2019. The visit to the city will start from the Museum of the Biella Territory, located in the Cloister of San Sebastiano, which houses an archaeological and a historical-artistic section of particular value, in which each work on display expresses a strong connection with the territory.

After a lunch in a restaurant, a tour guide will welcome you to discover the city center together, guiding you to the main points of interest in Biella Piano, including the Cathedral, dedicated to Santo Stefano, and the Baptistery, symbol of the city.

Thanks to the characteristic Funicular, the visit route will continue to Biella Piazzo, the medieval heart of the city, characterized by cobbled streets, historic buildings, and large porticoes.

The day will end with a visit to Palazzo Lamarmora, one of the most important historic buildings in the Piazzo, which with its 8 centuries of history, preserves an extraordinary heritage.

Dinner in a typical restaurant.
