Along a woolen thread | 2 days tour

What links an industry that is a symbol of the highest quality in the world, one of the lightest waters in Europe, a varied and relaxing nature, the production of excellent food and wine and a group of tourism professionals?

A thread (naturally wool) that unites the many aspects of the Biella area and that is transformed into a quality tourist fabric, made up of warps and wefts, which come together in networks of small artisanal producers, of small but award-winning micro-breweries, of castles and sanctuaries, mysterious villages…

As expert craftsmen you will have the opportunity to weave your own fabric on manual looms, which you will take home as a souvenir of the experience!

PROGRAMME

2 days / 1 night (first night optional)

1ST DAY

Arriving in Biella in the afternoon or evening you can have dinner and rest in the hotel to better appreciate the next day's visit.

2ND DAY

Your Wool Travel Experience companion will reach you at the hotel at 09:00 to accompany you to your first appointment of the day: Alessandra, your teacher, using the manual looms in her laboratory, will explain to you how a wool thread, through the crossing of warp and weft, creates a fabric that you yourself will produce like true textile artisans. After two hours of "hard work" it will be time for a well-deserved rest. But first a stop to taste the beer from a craft brewery in their place in Biella Piano.

Lunch in a nearby farmhouse (around 12.30 pm) in the name of typicality: their cured meats, their goat's cheeses, the ricotta made that morning, their savory pies with dandelion, nettle or silene...

The afternoon will continue, at around 2.00 pm, with another very special visit: the Botto Wool Mill and the Friends of Wool Association of Miagliano. A very interesting experience to learn about and touch the variety of greasy wool and to immerse yourself in the working and social environment of the ancient wool mills, walking between the factory and the Workers' Village.

We continue towards the bottom of the Cervo Valley to learn about the history, made of mystery, magic, esotericism, of an illustrious character from Biella and of the homonymous and most mysterious village in Italy: Rosazza.

We will walk through a place with enchanted architecture and full of mystery and symbolism and then return to the city. The choice is yours whether to return to the hotel for dinner (not included) or have dinner in Biella (not included) before your well-deserved rest.

3RD DAY

Your guide will help you discover the city and its oldest village, the Piazzo, on an easy walk.

We will take a leap into Biella's medieval and Risorgimento past, walking through the streets of Biella Piano and, going up from one of the "coasts" (as the Biella people call the cobbled streets that climb up the Piazzo hill), we will reach the most historic part of the Roman Bugella Civitas, Biella Piazzo.

ill discover, crossing Porta della Torrazza, Piazza Cisterna, Piazzetta San Giacomo, the porticoes and along the streets of the village, ancient buildings and famous Biella families who made the history of the city and the unification of Italy.

We will then go down with the funicular, which has connected the two parts of Biella since 1886, to reach your cars (around 1pm). Anyone who wants can have lunch before departure in one of the nearby restaurants. End of package.
