Description
La Rocchetta Castle is located in Sandigliano, in the province of Biella and its origins date back to the 14th century. It was built with the function of a defensive bulwark of the city's Ricetto, a place where agricultural products and livestock were kept. Unique for its circular shape, the village of Sandigliano was delimited by high walls, partly still preserved today, and by a moat which was partially filled over the centuries. In the north-eastern part, surrounded by walls, stood the "rocchetta", home of the Lords of Sandigliano. The Castle therefore remained in an autonomous position with respect to the Borgo and had its own entrance tower with drawbridge, a guard room and an observation tower. The Castle opened its doors to the public for the first time in March 2010 as an accommodation facility with 16 accommodations suitable for a one-night stay (hotel) or longer stays (residence). Overall, it includes 12 internal and 4 external units, three of which are designed without architectural barriers to also adapt to the needs of disabled people or those with reduced motor skills. The structure is managed by Gatti and Zanone Gourmet et Charme who, with their solid experience, have seen them as protagonists in the restaurant-hotel sector for over 25 years. Their company philosophy fits perfectly with that of the property: relaxation, courtesy and service, to offer everyone a royal stay.
